FUSE

I have some work in the latest issue of FUSE art+culture+politics Magazine, Some collages I made while at the Banff Centre accompany a very good article about the Aboriginal Curatorial Collective. To make these, I tore apart some art magazines and reworked the content into designs representative of different indigenous groups.

this is what i did at the banff centre

A series of four screenprinted images. Each print is five layers/colors. Some are more because of split fountain effects. I really never feel like blogging anymore.

Here is a glance at a photo series I did. Maybe you'll get to see them closer one day!!!!!
The concept is bscly self-portraits in the bush, where my being and the woods kind of meet in the middle to create a sense of myself that I cant really define it might be because you cant really look at your own face in the woods only pine cones and twigs and stuff like i said i really dont feel like blogging anymore

Some images from my studio:

In a show next week in Ottawa with some wierdo friends of mine from across kanada. Poster by Mike Deforge!!!(click to see all)

Also here are some snapshots of my progess here in Banff. I KNOW I KNOW the documentation is rly bad right now, and I still have work to do on these prints. I'm "stamping" each print in the edition with a small screenprinted signature to verify it's authenticity.

banFff

Hi Everyone. Here is an update on my residency.
Everyone gets their own studio. This is mine:
I printed out some acetates for printing and hung them on the wall so I can stare at them.

Desk detail. Just look at all that JUNK

Some stuff on the wall for Inspiration:

A part of what Im working on here requires some photographic elements, so I went out in the woods and took pictures.

This is me in the middle of the night putting a self-timer on my camera and running into the bushes

I'm not going to post images of work right away because I don't know what's going to happen yet.

kind of a wierd post

On January 5th I'm flying to Banff, Alberta, to do a seven week artist residency. I'm going to be making prints in the mountains. The reason why I haven't posted anything new latley is because I have been so busy trying to allocate the resources to get there (funding, supplies, a sherpa, etc) and it's been a long, long road. An indirect result of that is wacky and Out There illustration jobs.

This one is the promotional material for a "7 Deadly Sins" themed art auction that happened a few weeks ago at Gallery 101 in Ottawa. They ended up not using the text, but they used the rest.

Because the theme was PRIDE I figured I would draw the evil inner self, the polite outer self, and the projected intangible energy of self-importance. U kno what I mean? dont u h8 ppl like that?????

Moving rite along, here is a graphic for a film being realeased from local film distribution company Burnbury Films. Behold, BIGFOOT'S REFLECTION.

I felt it was important to portray Bigfoot in a dignified manner. I was deeply inspired by the graphic for The Lion King on Broadway (not even joking)

And finally, something totally pragmatic and uplifting. When I'm not making mentally-ill poster art for anti-social musicians, I ocassionally do illustration for Mohawk language television from my hometown. These are from a tale about a dog who helps a beaver build his dam, despite their differences. It's a tale of friendship, acceptance, and helping others.

On that positive note, HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!!

Dead Wife is taking a tour of the wilderness of Ontario next weekend: an African restaurant in Toronto, and a basement in Ottawa the next day. Lisa and I made the Toronto poster together from a bunch of heads we drew together one night. I did the layout for this one.

We are also playing right when we get back, with Red Mass. We collabed on this poster too. But this time Lisa did the layout, and Choyce from Red Mass added some stuff as well:

We are going to use the money we make on the road to buy me a new kick pedal. And a hi-hat clutch. or so i hear

HUMAN EYE

Human Eye poster. I only used, like, one color. (red)

Check these out. Somebody once called them "Urban Rave Totems", but I think that's racist. so I'm just going to call them "FOR SALE!"

They have been hanging in my house for a while and I'm finally willing to let them go. They are glyphy representations of my friends. You can have one in your living room! I'm never making these again!
